This acrylic and oil pastel painting on canvas is by Griffin Cordell and measures 48"x48". This piece is part of the Archival Memory Series and is an investigation into digitally archived photographs. Through interpreting convoluted situations, unearthing past locations, and identifying forgotten people, my work is not only a resurrection of seemingly insignificant moments but a transformation of the moment itself.

Statement- "The creative process has led me into researching many subjects, but dreams, our relationship to memory, investigations of the past, and exploring the surreal through object association have always been consistent in my work . I have worked in many mediums, but recently painting has been at the forefront of my practice. Living in the process of making art and letting go of any expectations that would restrict my creativity is important to me. Through following my creative intuitions, I continue exploring and understanding the importance of life and sharing my experiences with people around me. My paintings are not defined by the traditional understanding of narrative because they cannot be understood as linear. Instead they exist somewhere more ambiguous like emotion. A painting has no beginning, middle or end, but instead exists as an artifact of the human condition affecting viewers for often several lifetimes.
