About Becca Splawn
Becca paints from memory rather than direct observation. Her landscapes begin in places she has traveled through and lived within, then shift through recollection into something more personal. Distance allows each landscape to shed its literal details, making space for emotion to become the subject of the painting. Color, light, and gesture become a way of exploring not how a place appeared, but how it was experienced.
She begins each painting by carefully curating a palette that captures its atmosphere, then builds the surface through intuitive layers of color and texture, allowing the work to emerge from memories rather than description. Instead of documenting specific places, each work explores what endures - what is left behind.
Becca’s paintings invite viewers to bring their own associations and emotions to the work. In that exchange, personal recollections become shared landscapes.
