About Jim Turanchik
Some of North America's most iconic birds stream across the canvas in artist Jim Turanchik's life-size paintings of birds in flight. Combining robust realism with tonalism and a touch of "trompe-l'oeil", the paintings celebrate both the beauty of his subject matter and their aerodynamic prowess. Jim's work has appeared in The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum's "Birds in Art" exhibitions being featured as one of the posters for the 2019 exhibit. His illustrations of birds and bird watchers have been published in "Bird Watchers' Digest" since 1989. A graduate of Ohio State University where he majored in film-making, his academic pursuits ranged from anthropology and astronomy to Classical Studies and Ancient Greek. He lives on a quarter-acre lot in Columbus, Ohio where he has observed nearly a hundred species of birds.
