About Kevin Palme
For the past several years, I have painted ice cubes and origami in various states of transience and balance or suspension. Paradoxically, these works are memorials - the continuance of something fragile and impermanent. Recently, however, I have begun to also understand the role that quiet plays in the work.
We live in a frenetic world, bombarded by information, digital stimulation, and a culture of outrage. My work is a refuge from the pace of contemporary life. It is a meditation on quiet and stillness, asking viewers to pause and allow for the time needed to deeply explore, entertain nuance, and hold divergent sentiments in a single moment.
