About Cathryn Miles
Cathryn Miles is a contemporary landscape painter based in Roswell, Georgia, known for her expressive, textured paintings built with bold palette knife strokes. Her work features thick layers of color and intuitive mark-making that capture the movement and emotion of the natural world—shifting light, changing weather, and the organic rhythm of the land and sky.
Much of Cathryn’s inspiration comes from the landscapes of the Southeast, where she has lived most of her life. Rooted in the Atlanta area, her artistic sensibility is equally shaped by time spent in the mountains, along rivers and creeks, and on the coast. These places linger within her, resurfacing in her paintings as reflections of both memory and experience.
In the studio, Cathryn works from a combination of on-site sketches, recollection, and instinct, allowing each landscape to evolve beyond representation into something more abstract, expressive, and deeply personal.
